Suneate

A relatively new piece of armor the Suneate was developed to protect the shins of the wearer. They came in many different styles depending on the use. For the foot soldier there was a cloth or leather Suneate sometimes with chain maile or metal splints for added protection allowing for a relatively light weight construction. Others where more sturdy with heavier metal splints or a clam shell design that incased the entire lower leg in metal, Theses heavier pieces made it more difficult to run and move fluently and were warn by archers and horsed samurai. Below are some pictures of different styles.
